When planning a wedding, one of the most stressful decisions you have to make is choosing a theme, but once you do, the rest of the decisions are much easier to make. Having a theme for your big day helps narrow down options to a more specific selection. Here are a few tips to help you pick the perfect theme for your wedding.
Look at your culture and roots
A wedding symbolises the union of you and your significant other, and therefore your culture is a good place to start when picking a theme. If you are in touch with your roots, you can use your wedding to pay tribute to your cultural heritage. With more cases of intermarriages, multicultural marriages have become very popular over the past years. Having a traditional wedding makes it easier to select other elements of the wedding, such as music and food. You can narrow down your search for a catering company to a few that offer cultural cuisines.
Dig a little deeper
Your wedding should tell your love story. If you and your partner met at a jazz concert and love jazz music, then you can have a theme tailored around that. Your décor, cake, and music can all be personalised towards your theme. You can book a live jazz band to perform all of your favourite songs, ensuring that you and your guest have a fun and memorable day.

If you are planning on having an outdoor wedding, the time of year brings you one step closer to your theme. If you are having a fall wedding, then colours such as red and orange will be more suitable.

In 2020, greener and environmentally conscious weddings are on-trend, as well as very small and minimalistic weddings. The location of your wedding highly influences the theme you choose. If you are getting married at the beach, then choose a colour palette that compliments the blue skyline and green palm trees. The venue is one of the biggest expenses and one of the most important elements of your wedding, so have that in mind when choosing a theme. The last thing you want is for your theme to clash with the venue.
