Spring is here! It might not quite seem like it most days, but Spring is definitely here! On my most recent visit to Carberry Tower (a lovely wedding venue near Musselburgh!!), I saw them: SNOWDROPS!
So I took a photograph of them with my iPhone, also a nice little
picture of the venue itself. It's well hidden, but really really nice!
Thanks to Dawn for showing me round!! Winter is officially over! Snowdrops at Carberry Tower.
Another one I took with my iPhone.

Dear Nadin,
That's
February almost over... January and February are supposed to be slow
for photographers. So I was looking forward to a quiet spell, sorting
out paperwork and other boring things, but this never happened! I
had an interesting shoot with an Asian Dance Group in Glasgow at the
end of January, and after that, I spent a little bit of time with one
of their main singers/dancers Rameet. The first time, I met Rameet, she
was only 11 or 12 years old, standing on a big stage at the Glasgow
Mela, with a microphone, entertaining more than a 1000 people! What an
amazing girl! Now at 16 - Oh La La! (and: yes, she is standing in an
elevator, this was the only place in the community centre that didn't
have posters!)

Back in the studio
In
case you didn't know - I have a photography studio in Bathgate! I can
take on commissions for product photography and of course studio
portrait photography.
So we had a bit of both in the last few
weeks. I welcomed a lovely family from Falkirk for a family portrait
session with their little boy.
I always spend a little bit of
time with the family first so that small children can get used to the
environment and realise I am not a threat to them. At only 13 months,
little Declan soon was happy to be photographed and was surprised at
the big lights going on and off!

I do like beer! Usually in a pub! In a glass! When
I first came to Scotland, I didn't know what to make of the "flat"
beers you can buy here. Only for me to learn that the flat beer is
called ALE, which actually tastes OK, well, some of them taste VERY
MORE-ISH!
About a year ago, I was asked by a restaurant to take
photographs during a beer tasting event. They hadn't finished the
question when I said YES, I AM THERE. WHEN IS IT?
At the event, I met the lovely Beth from the Cairngorm Brewery. I sent Beth a CD with the images from the event, which she liked a lot.
Beth
contacted me a few weeks ago to see if I could take some photographs of
the Cairngorm Brewery's 8 beer brands. YES, OF COURSE. Beth then
arranged for the bottles to be delivered to my door and I spent quite
some time in the studio taking photographs of the bottles as well as
the beer poured into a glass. The images will now be used for their new
brochures and website.
This was a hard hard job! Look, but don't touch!!!
This next photograph is for Catriona Cripps, owner of Wildcat Solutions (Wildcat have many years
experience of providing Sage Software - especially ACT! - a fantastic CRM product - together with consultancy,
training and after-sales support). Enjoy, Cat ;-) This is for you!

Action for Children at Harvey Nics
Action for Children
is one of the charities I have supported for quite a while now. They
run events regularly at stunning venues to raise funds. This time, they
arranged a fun-filled evening for the ladies of Edinburgh in one the
city's finest shops: Harvey Nichols.
Grant Scott from Radio Forth One was moderating the evening, and he was helped by Martel Maxwell,
a regular showbiz and entertainment commentator on Sky News, gmtv's
Entertainment Today, This Morning and BBC Radio Scotland, during the
auction and raffle later that night. Thanks to Lisa from Action for
Children who organised this event and, of course, all the staff at
Harvey Nichols for a fantastic service and an amazing dinner!
During the event, the 170 ladies helped raise over £14,000 for the charity!

Playday! Now this was something different!
My friend Peter J Clarke, an outstanding Nature and Wildlife Photographer (www.outward-vision.co.uk)
wanted
to have a slightly different photograph of himself. So he came
up with this idea - to re-create a "James Bond" style of image he had
seen!
We ventured to some wasteland, with studio flash, reflector -
the lot. I was kneeling in the mud, holding the reflector with my
shoulder, squinting into the sun, trying to trigger the flash
opposite... it was worth it!
It's a great photograph and ever so slightly different. After all, photographers can work together!!

The best Make-up Artist!
I keep talking about Tracy Kane - make-up and hair artist from
South Queensferry. But she is really worth talking about! If anyone
ever needs someone for their wedding or that special occasion, Tracy is
the girl!
I had the honour to take photographs of Tracy and her fiancé, who are getting married later this year.
Even though it was very cold, Tracy and Steph braved the temperature
and we created a great selection of images for the two of them!

Everybody: Meet Tracy: (Angela and Scott - especially for you ;-) )

This month we like...
- Twitter!
Yes, Twitter, that thing that no-one gets/understands/wants to know
about. Twitter is amazing and has provided me with a wealth of
information I never knew existed! Follow me on Twitter if you want to
be one of the first to find out news:
http://twitter.com/nadindunnigan
(and if you don't know what Twitter is and would like to find out more
- I am happy to help you set up an account and get tweeting!) - Tea! Yes, still tea-total.
- Cup
Cakes! What is it with cup cakes??? They seem to be everywhere at the
moment. And they look sooo amazing, so yummie, so completely ANTI DIET,
so hrmpf hrmpf hrmpf (this is German for stuffing a cup cake into your
mouth).

Lifestyle photography - the season has begun!!
Just
a week ago, I was taking photographs of this gorgeous little girl in
Edinburgh. She knows how to work the camera and really enjoyed being
the centre of attention.

Did you know??? That I am an award-winning web designer?
I
started my own web design business in 2005 and concentrated mainly on
creating websites for small businesses in West Lothian. Only a year or
so after I started, I won the award "Best Web Designer West Lothian"
and another year later, I won another award - the Runner Up for Best
New Business in West Lothian (Shona Sibbald Award). I was told off by Janice Meikle and Amanda Treend, both friends and Marketing Consultants, today, because I apparently never blow my own trumpet! So here you go. Trumpet loud enough? Janice? Amanda?I
still support my existing clients, but I decided to run only one
business - Nadin Dunnigan Photography. However, I didn't want to give
up the skills of web development, so I decided to join forces with West Lothian's best Marketing Agency - Marketing Matters, who are based in Bathgate. I now provide web development for their clients and we have just recently taken a website online: Goldshield Ltd. Marketing
Matters provide design work including logo design for business cards,
letter heads, sales literature, leaflets, and can help with the overall
marketing strategy of a business. So if you need someone to help you
out with a marketing project or if you are in the process of
re-branding or need a new website - give Janice Meikle a call: 01506 66
86 85. Trumpet END. Enjoy the rest of your week!!!
PS: Do you know someone who
- is pregnant? And wants some lovely photographs just before the baby comes?
- just had a baby and would love to have some amazing photographs of their new family member?
- is getting married in 2011 or later this year? And needs a photographer?
- runs their own business and is in the process of updating brochures and needs new photographs?
If you do - just forward them my newsletter - that would be much appreciated ;-) If there's something I can do for you - simply drop me an email. I might just know the person you are looking for! This really is the end of this newsletter! |
