Dear Nadin,
Here
we go already, our second newsletter in your inbox. Well thank you very
much guys, for all your great feedback on our very first edition in
November. This is much appreciated! Well well, what am I going to put
in this one? We have been trying to avoid the Christmas stuff for as
much as we could. However, it's like Top Gear, when they test drive a
new car around hundreds of cones on a wet surface, you're bound to hit
a few of them... I can tell you: I know a lot about Top Gear, and I
think DAVE should be abolished. My lovely husband watches every episode
of Top Gear, and if we have seen it before, he reminds me that he
doesn't quite know the script by heart yet! Nae wonder I spend so much
time on my computer... This is one of the first images we took this year in this style and since then, we have been quite busy with it...

Photo Competition: And the winner is...
Our first round of the 13 competition was a full success. We had quite a number of entries which can be seen on my blog.
It
was quite difficult to select the winner, and in the first round, we
have 2 winners! I asked another photographer to have a look through
the images and we both couldn't make up our minds about 2 photographs -
which one is going to be the winner??? So I decided, that I have 2
winners in the first round of the 13! competition.
Leslie and Edyta are sharing the winning spot in our first
competition! I have just received the postcards and will post them out hopefully before Christmas. They look amazing!!
Thank you for all your entries and I am already looking
forward to the next ones!
This is Edyta's entry.
 This is Leslie's entry.
Both amazing photographs!! Congratulations!!
Go Wild - 2nd Round of the competition. Closing Date: 5th January 2010.
The
second round of the 13! Competition is all about "Going Wild" with your
mobile phone or your compact camera. Create your own piece of art by
moving your phone or your camera while you press the button. Send us

Married Brides, where are you?
This
may sound really weird: I am looking for married brides... WHAT? I am
looking for girls who were married in the last 18 months and would be
keen to put their dress back on... If you know anyone in your circle of
friends, could you please put them in touch with me? There is a reason
behind all this... people following me on Facebook will have seen me
mentioning THE THING...

Photography advice for free...
Yes,
it's free of charge. I get to see a lot of photographs and I can never
get enough of them! I am also a photographic judge and I always
encourage people to take and print photographs.
So, here goes: Try this this month (and I want to see your photos and your questions!!!).
1.
Take your partner, child, dog, or friend outside. It does not matter
where you are. Make sure you are in a shady area, ie the sun does not
shine in the person's face. But it has to be in the middle of the day!!!
2. Switch off the flash on your camera.
3.
Ask the person to lean against something with their shoulder and put
their hands in their pockets (people never know what to do with their
hands!). Ask them to look straight in the camera, but ask them NOT to
smile. (Ok, if this is a dog you are photographing, this is kind of
difficult... - the pockets bit...!)
4. Frame the image in the camera so that there is space above the person's head and you only have the top legs in it.
5. Take a photograph of them and see if you and they like it!
6. Send it to me and I will let you know if I like it :-)
- Middle of the day
- No flash
- An area outside that is in shade
- Person leans against something
- No smiles
- Click
- Make it look cool in Google Picasa

This month we like...
- a foggy countryside - we had more of that than we bargained for (see below - "The wedding where...")
- cuddles with the cat (he moved into our bedroom!)
- waking up to a cup of coffee in bed (oh, bliss!)
- meeting lots of new people
- http://ww.moo.com - really cool personalised Christmas cards - very good price! Still possible for Christmas delivery! Also business cards etc.
- http://www.paperpod.co.uk - for that very different present for a child! We don't like toys that make a noise! So this is perfect ;-)
- EcoSphere by Nasa (I soooo want one!) (anyone volunteering to buy me one? {cheeky, me!})

German joke of the month (yes, we do have humour!)
If you haven't noticed, I am German, sometimes...
So who can translate this for me?
Die Großmutter zur Enkelin: "Du darfst Dir zu Weihnachten von mir ein
schönes Buch wünschen!" - "Fein, dann wünsche ich mir Dein Sparbuch." |

The one with the Germans (wedding) Every
wedding tells a unique story and there is always one thing that we
remember it by. This one was a bit hilarious to be honest... We asked
this lovely couple, who had their wedding reception at the North
Queensferry Hotel, to pose for some nice photographs in the gardens,
with the Forth Bridge in the background.
We often ask them not
to smile, but these two just couldn't stop giggling! Whenever they
tried to calm down, one of them would set the other one off again. They
were laughing so much, they simply couldn't stop. With all the traffic
in the background, I couldn't make out what they were saying so I
simply tried to take giggly photographs which worked well too.
Suddenly, a group of tourists with strange accents appeared beside me
and started taking photographs of the couple.
I figured by
their accent that they were Germans and as soon as they realised I was
German they kept asking me questions, ignoring the fact I was actually
working. Never mind, the couple were still inconsolable, laughing their
heads off...
I decided that I had enough giggles photos, so I
moved the couple somewhere else. They then told me that one of the
tourists had used the bushes as a, well, toilet and they were in full
view of the incident...
GERMANS!!! You wouldnae dae that at home!!!

 When
I took some photographs of the champagne glasses later on, the bridal
party was just getting ready for the receiving line. I saw this and
couldn't resist taking the photograph...

The one at Edinburgh Castle, apart from - there was no castle!
Last
weekend, we had the pleasure of taking photographs at a wedding in
Edinburgh Castle (I always wanted to get paid for getting into the
castle...!). We were really looking forward to this. We had lots of
plans - including taking a photograph of the couple overlooking
Princess Street Gardens and with all the Christmas lights in the
background.
This is what we got: The stunning view over Princess Street...
But even on foggy days there are ways to create some nice images...

So,
this is the end of our second newsletter. We have to do the Christmas
bit now, we tried to keep quiet about it for as long as possible.
We
wish you all a lovely Christmas and a happy new year. May all your
wishes for health, success, happiness, true love, lots of sales, new
jobs, new friends, that hot tub, new toys or gadgets, that new car or
whatever tickles your fancy come true!
We have had a wonderful year. Thank you for all your support, your friendship, and good wishes.
One last question: What's your new year's resolution? I already got my Amazon Kindle and I love it!!!
