Family Portraits in March

Even though it was a grey and cold day, we met this lovely family in a nearby park and took some amazing photographs of the family. All sorts of different group photographs were requested for the grand parents, for the individual families. I always try to remember the names of everyone in the photograph, and if I don’t write them down immediately, my brain doesn’t keep them…

Little Lewis was the one with short straw! He had to be in almost ALL the photographs and was very tired at the end of it! But some gorgeous portraits of him on his own lifted his spirits again.

I am always asked what clothes to wear for a family portrait. The worst thing you can do is to “encourage” your teenage children or even younger kids to wear something “smart”, such as a shirt, or a proper jacket. They will feel awkward and not happy with their appearance. I always recommend that the kids select their own clothes, to show their character and the stage of the live they are at. They will feel “cool” and happy which then results in amazing, natural photographs. Don’t dress up, or down for photographs, just wear what you like best – this is important for any age:-)
